The new Xbox One summer update has already started to roll out to it’s users this weekend. Its biggest new features being that cortana has been added, and background music is now supported. Background Music means you’ll be able to listen to your favorite tunes while playing your favorite games on your favorite console! Pandora will be added to the Xbox store soon, and iHeart Radio and Groove Music will be added as well. Sadly, Spotify has an exclusive deal with PlayStation, so will not be available on Xbox One.
Cortana will be joining the Xbox One to help you initiate voice commands, perform searches, and broadcast your voice during multiplayer. Cortana can hear you through the Kinect, or through a headset microphone connected to your controller.
There is also another updated featured, the Game Collection Window. Microsoft added 2 new tabs to the window, a “Ready To Install” tab, and an “Updates” tab, for gamers who would like to view those.
Another highly requested feature, Language Independence, has been added as well. This means you can set your Xbox One to a language that isn’t commonly used in the region. For example, if you live in Spain, setting you console to French even though that’s not what is commonly used in the region.
This new Summer Update will make way for the new Xbox One S, that launches on Tuesday. The model that launches on Tuesday will only be available with 2TB of memory. The 1TB and 500GB models will launch 3 weeks later. Other Xbox features announced at E3 will be added via updates around the holiday season.

Two more backwards compatible Xbox 360 games have been added to the Xbox One. These games are Syberia and Boom Rocket. You can download either game from the Xbox One Store for 10 dollars, or if you have bought either game on the 360 Marketplace, they will be available to download on the Xbox One. If you have a physical copy of Syberia, just putting the disc in will let you download it. Sadly, there never was a physical release of Boom Rocket, so you would had to have owned digitally on same account you are signed into on your Xbox One.
Microsoft is cutting the price of its Xbox One console to $249. The new price marks the third price cut in less than two months, ahead of the new Xbox One S launch on August 2nd. 500GB versions of the Xbox One are now $249, and this includes bundles with games like Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Quantum Break, Forza Motorsport 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Rare Replay.
Retailers like Best Buy and Amazon will be selling Microsoft's Xbox One console at the new $249 price point immediately, and the software giant says the consoles will be available at $249 "while supplies last." Microsoft's aggressive Xbox One pricing follows...

The Xbox One Blu-Ray Player will receive an update that turns it into the first Universal Windows app. Microsoft is merging the Windows Store, and the Xbox Store as part of the Windows 10 anniversary update, and introducing a new platform called the Universal Windows Platform that will be compatible with all Windows 10 devices. If you are one of the 20,000 preview members, you’ll be able to download this update now. In a forum post, microsoft said:
“ Hey everyone,You’ve likely heard about the new universal apps platform for Windows 10, which also includes Xbox, and the Xbox Universal Store introduced in the latest Xbox One update.
Tonight, we’re excited to launch the first universal app on Xbox One to a subset of Preview users: Blu-Ray Player.
Beginning tonight, the top 20,000 Preview participants (based on total Preview award points) will see a new app update become available for the Blu-Ray Player. The app update will not be available to all 20,000 top Preview participants immediately, but should become available over the next 24 hours for those selected. There will be few if any noticeable differences between the old Blu-Ray Player app and the new Blu-Ray Player universal app. Primarily, we’re looking for feedback on problems or any unexpected behavior.
If you do encounter any problems or unexpected behavior with the new Blu-Ray Player universal app, please use Report a problem (hold down the Xbox button on the controller and select Report a problem) and let us know. Thanks so much for being part of Preview and helping us test our first universal app! “
