Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Tops Ghosts’ Week One Record in UK

    MCVUK reports that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is proving to be a massive hit with the fans, with its opening week sales in the UK surpassing those of Call of Duty: Ghosts, and nabbing the top spot in the UK at the same time.

    In soaring straight to the top spot, Advanced Warfare’s first week unit sales surpassed the sales of Destiny, Titanfall, and Wolfenstein together, by nearly 14%.

    MCVUK writes that this makes Advanced Warfare the fifth biggest Call of Duty launch in the UK.

    However, MCVUK also says that the real test of Advanced Warfare’s performance against previous COD games will come over the weeks ahead, rather than just the first week, as it was in fact on sale one day longer than Ghosts, and also Ghosts came out before the arrival of Xbox One and PS4, so the sales performance of both games can’t be directly compared.

    The game also scored well on Metacritic, and seemed to have overwhelmingly favourable reviews, leading Activision to say the following in a statement:
